PHYS 150:  Principles of Aviation (7 open seats remaining)

This is a new course offering which will be taught for the first time this Spring semester.  The course description and objectives are below.  The course will be taught by Lt Col Roosevelt Loveless.  Lt Col Loveless is the commander of CSU’s AFROTC Detachment 772.  He is also a career USAF pilot. 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:  This course provides a general introduction to history of flight, theory of flight, and foundational information for aspiring pilots.  This course provides foundational ground instruction requisite for the FAA Private Pilot computerized knowledge examination, a pre-requisite for an FAA Private Pilot License. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES:  This course surveys the history of aviation, basic aerodynamics, aircraft performance, Federal Aviation Regulations, aviation weather factors and cross country navigation procedures.  The course will also provide introductory material on radio navigation, radio communications procedures, human factors and aviation safety.
